Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs presents Feather & Flame: Portraits of Wonder by Angela Scott in the Orange County Administration Center.
Angela Scott is a contemporary artist whose work celebrates the quiet beauty, resilience, and wonder found in the natural world. Working in primarily acrylic, but also with mixed media and watercolor, she creates expressive portraits of birds and wildlife that invite viewers to pause, look closer, and reconnect with the extraordinary hidden in everyday moments.
Living in Central Florida with her husband and two neurodivergent children, Angela draws inspiration from the way they experience the world: with curiosity, honesty, and an appreciation for details that are often overlooked. That perspective has transformed not only how she sees nature, but how she approaches painting. Each piece becomes less about documenting an animal and more about capturing its spirit, personality, and emotional presence.
Layering bold color, rich texture, metallic accents, and expressive mark-making, Angela balances realism with imagination to create works that feel both familiar and dreamlike. Birds frequently take center stage, serving as symbols of resilience, freedom, transformation, and individuality; qualities that echo throughout her collection.
Through Feather & Flame: Portraits of Wonder, Angela invites viewers to experience wildlife not simply as subjects to observe, but as reminders to slow down, embrace curiosity, and find beauty in the moments that quietly surround us. Her hope is that each painting sparks a sense of connection, joy, and wonder long after the viewer has walked away.
“Feather & Flame: Portraits of Wonder” by Angela Scott will be on display through September 3, 2026. The Atrium Art Gallery is open weekdays 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. except for holidays.
