Whiskey Theatre Factory

Whiskey Theatre Factory (WTF)’s mission is to develop new plays and create a community for emerging and returning theatre artists, especially playwrights located in Central Florida. 

Key programs that accomplish our mission: 1) Play reading Salons for ten-page excerpts of early drafts; 2) Plays in Progress readings of full scripts, complete with dramaturg-led feedback; 3) The Distillery Series, providing workshops and reading, culminating in a rehearsed staged reading and audience talkback; and 4) Working Productions of late-stage drafts. We also produce special events such as the One Minute Play Festival, designed to bring together and celebrate local artists and playwrights.

We produce all of these activities utilizing best practices for playwright-forward development: engaging playwrights throughout the process, working with experienced dramaturgs, and creating a community of support for the new work. Every season, we bring together a Collective of directors, dramaturgs, artists, designers, and technical theatre-makers with a passion for new work. These artists engage with playwrights through a pipeline of development that aligns with the playwright’s unique vision and goals for the script. WTF-developed scripts have gone on to world premiere productions at theatres across the country.
